INFO:
Observing that the incident was horrible, diabolic, inhuman, brutal and whose very thought sent dreadful shivers down the spine, a sessions court on Thursday sentenced a 45-year-old man to death for raping and murdering a woman inside a tempo in Sakinaka eight months ago. Judge H C Shende sentenced the accused, Mohan Chauhan, to death on two counts—murder, and raping and inflicting injury which causes death. Home minister Dilip Walse Patil said the state had demanded the death penalty since it was a “rarest of rare” case. The Bombay HC will have to confirm the death sentence. Rebecca Samervel reports.
