Today IHFA and cows.ie - David Clarke Livestock visited Tighe Twomey (Goldmore Herd) in Dromahane, Co Cork. Tighe has sold bulling heifers and weaned calves to Cows.ie and is very happy to have a good outlet for pedigree females. This gives him more confidence to breed a good portion of the herd to Holstein-Friesian before finishing with beef sires. The strong market for pedigree dairy helps him ensure he has a good outlet for young calves. In 2025, Cows.ie will again be purchasing Pedigree Heifer calves both on milk and weaned along with Pedigree Bulling Heifers. Holstein Pedigree in calf heifers are strong trade this year and the outlook for the North African market in years ahead is very encouraging.
